Mas and Susan Yamanaka

This is our first Rick Steves tour. We chose this tour because we wanted to spend maximum time in learning and experiencing the art and history rich country, free of worries about logistics and headaches.

We are from Salem Oregon. Susan loves history and reading.

Mas is a wood carver and a painter.

We spent a year preparing for this trip by reading books and watching DVDs. These are referenced here. We liked this trip so much that we signed up for “Best of Eastern France in 14 Days, 2015” and started studying the area.

So our journey began one year before the 2014 trip and the 2015 trip is already in the works.

This is a guided tour starting from Paris. Thanks to public transportation system you can visit many places of interest on your own in Paris, however, the advantage of Rick Steves Tour becomes apparent when you get out of the city.

The bus is comfortable and it serves as a mobile classroom. Our guide Virginie explained French culture, history, basic phrases, and more.

No fussing with train tickets or hotel search as Rick Steves Tour took care of all the details. You just relax, make new friends and enjoy the journey.
